SEC Power Rankings Week 7: Alabama falls in shocking upset
By Shelbie Warr
After a huge upset of the top-ranked Crimson Tide at home, the Aggies jump from No. 11 to No. 8. I couldn’t rank them any higher when you consider their other two losses to Arkansas and to Mississippi State. However, this team is still in control of its own destiny and should focus each week on going 1-0 starting with Missouri this week, because it is still possible that they make an NY6 Bowl when it is all said and done.
Auburn sits at the halfway point of the conference. I don’t know what to make of them. They have two losses to highly ranked teams, Penn State and Georgia, so things aren’t exactly going horribly. They still have a couple of big games to prove themselves. It starts with Arkansas this week, a game that Auburn would have been chosen to win at this point last season and it wouldn’t be close. However, this is a stronger Razorback team, so it is going to be a closer game than many think.
The Gators have two losses now after falling to Kentucky, who remains undefeated. The other loss is to Alabama and it came by two points. Now, they face off against LSU in what should be an easy matchup for them. However, I have seen crazier things happen and they include a thrown shoe a season ago so who knows. They play No. 1 Georgia in a week too, and a win there would be a gamechanger.
