It was a good week for Texas A&M football on the field and now the Aggies are trending in the right direction with one of 2022’s top recruits.
There has always been a strong correlation between winning football games and recruiting well. And following a big win over Alabama, Texas A&M football should be able to take advantage of that momentum on the recruiting trail.
The Aggies have been a recruiting powerhouse under Jimbo Fisher routinely signing some of the best classes in the country.
Case in point: Texas A&M football currently has the 10th-ranked class according to the 247 sports composite rankings with five players ranked in the top 100 verbally committed.
Of course, A&M is hoping to add to that list and it will. One recruit who could be joining the 2022 class soon is elite edge rusher Enai White.
White is out of Philadelphia and he’s unique. He’s 6-foot-5 and listed at 230 pounds but can easily get bigger and is a dominant edge rusher. Here’s part of his scouting report from 247 sports:
"“Frame and length is elite. Can easily carry 250 pounds. Offers position versatility as weak side defensive end of outside linebacker. Freakish athleticism. Possesses elite burst at snap and he speed to consistently get around edge.”"
White will need to bulk up a little, but every SEC power has been after him including Alabama, Georgia, Florida — you name it. Ohio State and Penn State have made a strong push too but after a recent visit, Texas A&M football appears to be the favorite landing crystal ball projections on Wednesday from Steve Wiltfong and Brian Dohn of 247 sports.
Wiltfong is a national recruiting analyst and one of the top guys at 247. When he puts in a crystal ball prediction, it’s because he’s got a good reason and he put his in with a confidence level of seven. The same with Dohn who covers the Northeast and the Philly area.
With Malick Sylla already committed in 2022, the Aggies could have a pair of elite edge rushers in this class, not to mention Walter Nolen, the No. 1 overall recruit according to 247 sports, who is still strongly considering the Aggies.
Texas A&M has momentum on the field after its win over Bama and hopefully, for the Aggies, that will lead to a victory in White’s recruitment over other SEC contenders, as well as Ohio State.
It sounds like a decision will come down in December and for now, at least, the Aggies are in a really good spot.
