Auburn Football: 3 bold predictions for Tigers vs Arkansas
By Shay McBryde
1. The best running back duo in the nation will triumph
Tank Bigsby was severely shut down against Georgia. They may just have the best defense in the country so it is not surprising. Thankfully for Auburn, the Tigers have the best two backs in the nation.
The struggles of the o-line have not always let that showcase but there aren’t very many duos in the country quite like this. The Razorbacks have a defense that has not done very well in stopping the run this season.
Tank Bigsby and Jarquez Hunter are going to spread this defense wide open. They will both have over a 100 yard game with Bigsby edging him out. Tiger Tank will have 150 yards and two touchdowns, Hunter trailing just behind with 105 and a touchdown for himself. Look for Hunter to have some longer runs and Tank to carry the load. Just as a tank should.
Jarquez Hunter is leading the team in rushing surprisingly at 465 yards and Bigsby is just behind him with 458. Bigsby is also first in all of college football with 9.83 yards per carry. These running backs pack a one-two punch.
Arkansas’ last two games opponents have rushed for 597 yards. That is substandard especially in the SEC, expect Tank Bigsby who is as good as any back in country to find the holes and open up the running game.
The Auburn rushing has dropped somehow to 30th in the nation. That should not happen with the talent of Bigsby. But they do have the 4th most yards per carry.
Arkansas ranks No. 98 in run defense. Getting Tank and the crew back on track is vital to the Auburn Tigers getting back where they need to be. With Alabama losing they still have a chance to win the SEC West.
The last time Auburn beat Alabama was in the Iron Bowl in 2019. The Tigers beat Alabama 48-45. No matter what record Auburn holds the Iron Bowl is always one for the ages.
The passion, talent, joy, and love for football in Alabama shines through every time you watch them play. Truly a beautiful thing to watch every year.
Look for Bigsby and Hunter to have an outstanding day on the ground and push Auburn back to where they need to be. A win against a no. 17 Arkansas to rocket the Tigers back on track and back in the rankings.
Auburn’s only losses are against two top 10 teams this season. Being knocked out of the rankings has been highly controversial among NCAAF talk this week.
Arkansas Razorback Head Coach Sam Pittman had some words to say about that fact during the SEC coaches teleconference:
"“We’re looking forward to playing Auburn. Auburn’s only two losses have been the two top 7 teams in the country. They have a really, really good football team.”"
Kind and true words from the man at the helm in Arkansas. Unranked Auburn takes on number 17 Arkansas at 12pm in Fayetteville, at Razorback Stadium on CBS. Let’s see who really is the best in the West.
