College Football 2021: Top 3 under-the-radar games to watch in Week 7
By Shane Lunnen
Week 7 is upon us and hard to believe we are already at the midway point of the 2021 college football season. We have seen some great football since the start of the season with a ton of upsets. As fans, we are hoping for more of the same in the second half of the season.
Half of the top 10 is occupied by Big Ten teams, with four of them residing in the Big Ten East. It will change as those teams start to play each other in the coming weeks. Cincinnati keeps plugging away as they keep their eyes on crashing the College Football Playoff party as a Group of Five representative.
Clemson is probably the biggest surprise as they are completely out of the AP Top 25 and barely hanging on in the Coaches Poll. Instead Wake Forest has become the darling of the ACC as its lone undefeated team. The stretch run will be fun to watch if the Demon Deacons can hang on and win their first conference title since the 2006 season.
The last few Saturdays have seen a slew of ranked versus ranked matchups however Week 7 only features two such contests. Oklahoma State visits Texas, with the Longhorns just hanging on to the 25th spot in the AP poll.
The big game of the week features undefeated and 11th ranked Kentucky traveling to Athens to take on the top ranked Georgia Bulldogs. All eyes will be on that game. Will Georgia quickly dispose of another ranked team as they have the previous two weeks? Or will Kentucky pull off the enormous road upset?
Besides those games, there are some other intriguing matchups taking place around the nation. Let’s take a look at three games not getting as much attention this week by the national pundits.
