2. Pittsburgh at Virginia Tech

The inside track to the ACC Coastal division is on the line as Pitt heads to Blacksburg to take on Virginia Tech. The series since Pitt joined the ACC in 2013 is evenly matched with both teams owning four victories. The Panthers last won in Blacksburg in 2015.

How good is this Pitt team? Quarterback Kenny Pickett is lighting the world on fire and not getting a ton of media attention for it. He’s posted a 72 percent completion percentage, thrown for over 1,700 yards and has 19 touchdowns to a lone interception. The Panthers are scoring over 52 points per game, good for second in the country.

The problem for Pitt has been who they have been putting these numbers up against. UMass, New Hampshire, Georgia Tech and a middle of the pack SEC Tennessee team. Their lone loss was against Western Michigan in a game where they still put up 41 points but they gave up 44 points. The turnover bug doomed the Panthers against the Broncos.

Virginia Tech is coming off a tough loss against Notre Dame. The Hokies had an eight point lead with less than four minutes left in the game but the Irish scored the game’s final 11 points to win. The Hokies are not an offensive juggernaut by any stretch of the imagination, scoring under 25 points per game and ranking in the lower half of the nation in passing and rushing yards.

This is real tough ask for the Hokies to pull what would be considered an upset. While Lane Stadium is a tough place to play, Pitt does seem to be rolling. However any given Saturday is the saying. The ACC is a total crap shoot as to who will be meeting in the conference title game this year so the game should be interesting for that storyline alone.
