College Football Rankings 2021: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 8
I’m honestly not sure how AP voters are going to judge Oregon’s seven-point win over Cal at home, but I think the Ducks will probably remain around the No. 9 spot. Sure, there’s a chance they could drop, but a win’s a win, no matter how ugly it is.
Mario Cristobal may have a problem on his hands. His defense looked solid and Travis Dye was really good in place of CJ Verdell, but the offense as a whole continues to disappoint, led by Anthony Brown. Watching the offense sputter and struggle to put up points despite having all the talent in the world is frustrating.
If Oregon doesn’t figure out the offensive issues soon and continues to play down to opponents (Cal was 1-4), it can kiss its playoff hopes goodbye.
We’re at the point in the season that the playoff committee is paying attention and looking for style points from contenders against inferior opponents. In that category, Oregon is lacking.
