The slate of games for Week 7 did not look promising, but college football fans know that that means an upset is brewing and bound to happen. Second-ranked Iowa had a home game against Purdue and Iowa’s inefficiency on offense finally caught up to them. The Hawkeyes now face an uphill battle to get back into the College Football Playoff hunt and it is going to take them winning out and winning the Big Ten.

Elsewhere, Georgia reminded everyone why they are the top-ranked team in the country. Alabama bounced back nicely and blew out Mississippi State. Cincinnati showed that they are deserving of a top-four spot and blew out UCF.

The most intriguing team from Saturday might have been Oklahoma. The Sooners looked overrated for the first half of the season with Spencer Rattler starting at quarterback, but they look much better with Caleb Williams. If Williams keeps playing like this, the Sooners might be the team that was projected at the beginning of the season.

There were also some very disappointing performances on Saturday as well. Florida was a double-digit favorite over LSU, who was missing several key players, and the Gators lost. This is another puzzling loss for Dan Mullen and puts a damper on what looked like a promising season. Arizona State was looking like they might be the best team in the Pac-12, but lost a game to Utah, after blowing a 14-point lead.

There is still a good chunk of the season to go, but the playoff race is becoming more unpredictable every week.

Here are the winners and losers from the Week 8 Top 25.
