Week 8 of college football is very reminiscent of Week 6. There isn’t really that game you can say “that” is the one. All that happened that week was two top-10 teams losing to unranked opponents, including the No. 1 team in the country.

These are the kinds of weeks that present the most chaos.

Last week was a crazy one: four Top 25 teams lost to unranked teams, including the second-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes falling to Purdue. Texas was close to pulling an upset again but blew a 17-3 lead, which became a 24-13 second-half lead to Oklahoma State late in the game. Texas has now blown a combined 35-point lead against the state of Oklahoma this season.

Last week, teams on upset alert went an extremely impressive 7-1. Only Minnesota was able to pull the upset, 30-23 over Nebraska. It wasn’t an easy weekend though: San Diego State needed two overtimes to beat San Jose State, Wisconsin beat Army by six, Clemson held off Syracuse by three, and Ole Miss topped Tennessee by five.

Teams on upset alert in 2021 made a big jump, now 32-17. We might not make it back to .500 this season.

As usual, a disclaimer: these picks are not predictions unless stated as such.
