2. Nevada at Fresno State

Nevada and Fresno State are both having good seasons through the midway point. This game should provide a little more clarity in the Mountain West standings. Nevada has won the last two in the series.

Both teams feature top-notch quarterbacks. Nevada’s Carson Strong is completing nearly 68 percent of his passes for close to 2,000 yards and 16 touchdowns. On the other side, Jake Haener has more yards with over 2,300 yards and 20 touchdowns. This should be an aerial show between the two offenses.

What could be the difference in this one is turnovers. The Bulldogs have been bitten by the turnover bug the last couple of games. On the year they have lost eight of 11 fumbles. In contrast, Nevada is a plus-nine in turnover margin including not losing any of their four fumbles. If Fresno State wants to win, they must protect the football.

If you like offenses showcasing their passing attacks, this is a game to watch. It was a great decision by the television gurus to showcase the game in primetime instead of late night. This will help all the East Coast folks who want to watch. Expect a lot of fireworks and a close contest. The winner will gain significant ground in the Mountain West conference chase.
