BYU Football: 3 takeaways from bounce-back win over Washington State
2. Jaren Hall continues to be wildly underrated
When you look at the box score, you see Jaren Hall’s numbers and probably don’t think much about them. The BYU quarterback had fewer than 200 yards on the day and it didn’t matter because the Cougars found a way to win.
Why was he impressive despite having under 200 total yards? Because he didn’t make any mistakes.
Many expected Hall to do what he had done for the past two games and that’s throw for over 300 yards, but the reality of this was that he didn’t need to do that much. He didn’t need to do anything more than manage the game and put his team in the best position to win. He did just that because he was accurate (15-for-20) and didn’t turn the ball over.
Hall isn’t going to be lauded for his performance on Saturday and he won’t get any national recognition for it, but he continues to be wildly underrated.
There may not be a bigger surprise quarterback in the country than Hall through eight weeks.
