Another week, another comeback win for Oklahoma football.

Down 10 in the third quarter with under a minute left after a Kansas touchdown, Oklahoma stormed down the field in what felt like seconds and scored a touchdown to pull within three, 17-14. Oklahoma would add another touchdown to take their first lead of the game early in the fourth quarter and never look back.

This was a game of firsts as this was the first time Kansas held a lead over a ranked team since 2014 and the first time Oklahoma was shut out in the first half since the same year — also the first time the Sooners were shut out in the first quarter during conference play since 2016.

Oklahoma escaped disaster with the win, but what did we learn?

3. Missed tackles plagued the Sooners

Defense hasn’t exactly been the calling card of Oklahoma football over the years, but it has been trending in the right direction this season although it didn’t play its best on Saturday.

No, the Sooners didn’t give up a ton of yards, but they missed a ton of tackles.

It was never more evident than after Oklahoma scored to make it 10-7 early in the third quarter. Kansas got the ball back and moved down the field with ease to score and make it 17-7. On that drive, the Sooners had multiple chances to make crucial stops, but missed tackles led to first downs and an easy scoring drive for Kansas.

Fortunately, the Sooners were able to answer almost immediately, but Alex Grinch needs to get back to the drawing board this week and figure out the missed tackle issue that’s been plaguing this team and nearly cost them a win on Saturday.
