Breaking down the biggest strengths and weaknesses from the top contenders for the Big 12 football championship.

There are four Big 12 football teams ranked inside the  AP Top 25, with three of them inside the Top 16.

There has been no shortage of entertainment, from a Heisman-contender being benched to a 2-7 team in 2020, entering the late stages of October at 6-1.

The pretenders and contenders are clear, with Texas and TCU struggling to find consistency and finishing ballgames.

Texas Tech is behind the eight-ball (Matt Wells was just fired) and will be underdogs in every game moving forward. West Virginia snapped a month long losing streak and need work on both sides of the ball.

However, the contenders consist of Caleb Williams, Baylor’s running game, Oklahoma State’s defense, and Iowa State’s formula of success.

Although Texas is still in the race, the Longhorns’ two losses have them on the outside looking in, hoping for a chaotic end to October.

Here’s a look at the four teams with the greatest chances of making the Big 12 Championship game and each team’s strengths and weaknesses.
