Choice for ESPN College Gameday’s Week 9 was pretty clear
The famed ESPN College Gameday announced its location for Week 9 of the college football season and it is Michigan and Michigan State.
There are few things more popular on a Saturday morning than watching ESPN’s College Gameday while getting ready for another college football Saturday.
It became a tradition in the 1990s to travel to the locations of big games after the crew traveled to South Bend to watch the Irish host Florida State in a No. 1 vs No. 2 battle.
Since then, College Gameday has traveled all over the country and generally, especially late in the season, goes to the biggest game.
Going into Week 9 of the college football season, that game is clearly Michigan football and Michigan State.
This will be the highest-ranked matchup in the series since 1961 and with the winner improving to 8-0, and there are plenty of playoff implications riding on it.
Both teams are also ranked in the top 10.
Fox is broadcasting Michigan and Michigan State, as well as bringing its own show Big Noon Kickoff to East Lansing.
Gameday confirmed for Michigan vs Michigan State
Michigan and Michigan State is the most interesting game on the schedule this week. The rivalry is real (so is the hatred) and both programs are dying to be among college football’s best teams.
College Gameday could have chosen the Ohio State/Penn State game this week or some others such as Georgia-Florida or Ole Miss/Auburn, but with Penn State’s loss last week, it was pretty clear that Michigan and Michigan State should be the choice.
One team is going to prove it’s a College Football Playoff contender this week while the other will have to suffer ridicule from its rival fanbase for an entire year.
It should be an atmosphere that’s second-to-none and I can’t wait to see what Lee Corso chooses for the headgear.
Note: This post has been updated and earlier, incorrectly said College Gameday was going to the Penn State/Ohio State game.
