College Football 2021: Winners, losers from Week 10 AP Top 25
Things are starting to take shape in the College Football Playoff race and the Week 10 AP Top 25 showed some new contenders that are stepping up to the forefront.
Michigan State scored the biggest win yesterday by beating sixth-ranked Michigan and showing that they are Big Ten contenders. That was a blown opportunity for Michigan to take a leap and now the Wolverines appear to be on the outside looking in now.
The top-ranked team in the country, the Georgia Bulldogs, smothered Florida in their annual rivalry game and now it appears that Georgia is close to having a playoff spot locked up. Georgia’s remaining regular season includes Missouri, Tennessee, Charleston Southern, and Georgia Tech. If the Bulldogs get through these four games without a major upset occurring, the result of the SEC Championship will not mean as much for Georgia.
Ohio State was a team that was looking to make a statement with Penn State coming to Columbus, but the Buckeyes were a bit underwhelming on Saturday night. The defense gave up some yards to the Nittany Lions and Ohio State really struggled to get touchdowns in the red zone. This is a team that is thought to be among the nation’s elite, but they have yet to put together a complete performance against a quality opponent.
The most important month of the season is here and there is going to be plenty of movement in November. This is one of the more interesting playoff races since the playoff’s inception and November is sure to provide more excitement.
