College Gameday choice of Cincinnati-Tulsa for Week 10 is weak
Find out the destinations for College Gameday, SEC Nation, and Fox Big Noon Kickoff as we get set for Week 10 of the college football season.
The College Gameday crew was in a bit of a difficult situation as it tried to choose its location for Week 10 of the college football season.
Last week, it was easy. Michigan State was hosting Michigan in a top-10 battle of undefeated teams, the kind that hadn’t happened in that rivalry since 1961.
It was a clear choice. But College Gameday didn’t have a clear choice in Week 10 — or maybe it did — but either way, College Gameday’s Week 10 location is Cincinnati as the second-ranked Bearcats host 3-5 Tulsa.
There is no issue with Cincinnati hosting College Gameday and obviously, the focus of the show is going to be on the Bearcats and not their 3-5 opponent, but come on, seriously? That’s the best game of Week 10 of the college football season?
Auburn and Texas A&M, two teams ranked in the top 13 in the AP poll and two of the hottest teams in the country right now, are playing this weekend, which is where College Gameday should be.
Both teams have a chance to win the SEC West. Auburn controls its own destiny, while Texas A&M needs to win out and have Alabama lose. But there is still a lot at stake for both sides. In Tulsa-Cincinatti, only the Bearcats have something on the line, unless you count potential bowl eligibility for the Golden Hurricane, although beating No. 2 would obviously be a massive win.
I get what College Gameday is trying to do in showcasing the Bearcats and they deserve attention, but the show should be following SEC Nation to Kyle Field for what should be a fascinating game, even though some SEC fans likely wanted SEC Nation at the Alabama-LSU game.
Fox Big Noon Kickoff announces schedule too
The other big pre-game show on Saturdays is Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff. The Show was in East Lansing last week and will be in Lincoln, Nebraska as the Huskers host Ohio State.
Earlier in the season, this might have been an interesting matchup. Nebraska nearly beat Oklahoma, Michigan State, and Michigan, but following three straight losses, the wheels have fallen off.
Beating Ohio State could help Scott Frost save his job but outside of upsetting the Buckeyes and beating Iowa at the end of the year, he could be headed for the unemployment line.
Surely, that will be a hot topic on Big Noon Kickoff as the reclamation project in Nebraska seems ready for another reboot.
