Heisman Trophy Candidate No. 4: Matt Corral, QB, Ole Miss

Matt Corral might have been the Heisman Trophy favorite at one point this season but two losses and a few lackluster performances have him sliding.

Ole Miss lost to Mississippi State last Saturday and Corral threw an interception while completing 21 of 37 passes for 289 yards. It wasn’t a terrible performance by any means but not the kind of game that will keep you near the top of the Heisman race.

And since the Rebels now have two losses, time is running out.

Team success matters in the Heisman. Corral has to be able to lead Ole Miss to some wins down the stretch and there are still good chances against Liberty, Texas A&M, and Mississippi State.

Corral hasn’t been 100 percent and that’s been obvious the past few games but he failed to make a move when others have in the Heisman race which means he has to get things going if he wants to get an invite to New York in December.
