Heisman Trophy Candidate No 3: C.J. Stroud, QB, Ohio State

In addition to Walker, the other Big Ten player surging in the Heisman Trophy race is C.J. Stroud who has thrown 15 touchdown passes in his last four games compared to zero interceptions.

For the season, Stroud has 23 touchdown passes and has five games with at least three. He struggled a little against Oregon and Tulsa but since he got healthy, he’s been on fire.

He’s 12th in the FBS in passing yards and tied for seventh in touchdown passes. However, the most impressive stat is that according to ESPN, he leads all of college football in QBR.

Stroud has had four games being rated at a 90 or higher and remember this is on a scale of 1-100. This isn’t a pass-efficiency rating — another stat category where Stroud is through the roof.

I’ve said all along if Stroud leads Ohio State to the Big Ten championship and puts up ridiculous numbers along the way he would be in the mix and it’s happening.

And in a couple of weeks, the Buckeyes will play Michigan State. That game could be for not just the Big Ten East, but the Heisman Trophy.
