Is Texas A&M a sleeper for College Football Playoff?

There is one team that nobody is talking about as a College Football Playoff contender right now that they should be and it’s Texas A&M.

The Aggies thoroughly dominated 13th-ranked Auburn at home on Saturday winning the game 20-3. The Tigers were in front of the Aggies so A&M will move up at least one spot but Baylor lost and so did Wake Forest.

And since Texas A&M has beaten second-ranked Alabama, as well as Auburn, it wouldn’t shock me to see the Aggies ahead of the Demon Deacons. The Aggies will at least be 11th or 12th if not in the top 10.

So you’re asking how in the world could they be a playoff contender?

One loss by Alabama prior to the SEC title game is all it would take.

Since A&M beat Alabama, it owns the tiebreaker in the SEC West race and if the Aggies won out and Bama lost to say Auburn, A&M would win the West and get a shot at Georgia.

Obviously, Alabama is expected to win out but we know in college football to expect the unexpected.

And if the Aggies do somehow get to the SEC title game against Georgia, who is to say a win in that game doesn’t get them in the playoff?

A&M would be 11-2 but in that crazy scenario, it would be the SEC champ and hold wins over Georiga and Alabama, so yes, I’d say the Aggies would get a berth or would at least be in the conversation.

It’s just something to think about as Texas A&M football is starting to play the way people expected at the start of the season, especially on defense.

The Aggies won the only matchup Saturday between ranked teams and because of the craziness, it’s the one game hardly anyone is talking about.
