College Football Playoff Rankings 2021: Projected Top 25, Week 11
If Cincinnati was trying to impress the playoff committee, this was not the way to get it done.
Cincinnati was up 28-12 heading into the fourth quarter but Tulsa added a touchdown and two-point conversion to make it a one-score game. And then after Cincinnati made a huge stop deep in their own territory which looked to have sealed the game, Desmond Ridder fumbled a snap that gave Tulsa the ball back with a minute to go inside the 10-yard-line to potentially tie it up.
The Bearcats made a great defensive stand near the goal-line, but it’s still something that didn’t feel like a win at the time.
Letting a team like Tulsa hang around for that long was just not a good sign for this Cincinnati team that’s trying to prove it belongs in the top-four conversation.
If you think just because Michigan State lost that Cincinnati will climb into the top four, you’re sadly mistaken. I see the Bearcats needing way more to prove themselves as a top-four team moving forward.
Luke Fickell is going to need some style points.
