Michigan State football was put on upset alert throughout the week by a good portion of media members after coming off their huge win over rival Michigan last week. Purdue went ahead and made all those same people look smart as they did upset Michigan State at home in West Lafayette 40-29 on Saturday afternoon.

The Spartans just had no answer for the Boilermakers all afternoon. Every time Michigan State either got within a touchdown or tied up the game Purdue seemed to always answer with a score of their own. Purdue now has not only one but two top-five victories on the year.

Michigan State football suffered its first loss of the season to now be 8-1 on the year. Michigan State still has Ohio State on the schedule in two weeks so still a shot at picking up a huge road win to get back into the playoff discussion.

We will see how Michigan State rebounds from this loss to Purdue next week when they return home to East Lansing to take on Maryland. Here are three Spartan players who deserve a game ball for their performances against Purdue.

Tre Mosley – Wide Receiver

Tre Mosley found the end zone not once but twice Saturday for the Michigan State Spartans. Mosley had only three receptions for 44 yards but have to reward him for scoring multiple touchdowns.

These two touchdowns for Mosley against Purdue were the first and second in his Spartans career at Michigan State. He will never forget where he scored his first or second touchdown during his Michigan State career for the rest of his life. The Spartan faithful are hoping the sophomore receiver has a lot more touchdown receptions throughout his career in green and white.

Darius Snow – Safety

Darius Snow was all over the place. If you watched this game you heard the announcers mention his name a whole bunch during the broadcast. Snow finished the game with 13 tackles and 1.5 of them being tackled for a loss. The talented safety also recovered a fumble too.

Snow was a tackling machine on Saturday for the Spartans. Snow has now had back-to-back games with double-digit tackles for the Spartans defense. Let’s see if he can continue the streak next week against the Terrapins.

Kenneth Walker III – Running Back

Kenneth Walker III has earned another game ball for Michigan State. What a non-shocker that is for the star running back. Walker III rushed for 146 yards on 23 carries, and also scored a rushing touchdown. Walker III did have a fumble on the opening drive of the game but still played a great game and was the main reason why Michigan State was still within striking distance in the fourth quarter.

The Heisman candidate now has rushed for 15 touchdowns and one receiving touchdown through nine games so far this season. Walker III has also rushed for at least 100 yards in six out of the nine games as well.
