1. Jahan Dotson, Wide Receiver

Jahan Dotson was magnificent Saturday afternoon against Maryland. If not for Dotson, the Nittany Lions most likely do not win the game.

In front of a lot of his family who were in the stands, Dotson made program history. He finished the day with 11 catches, 242 yards, and three scores. His longest touchdown catch of the day came just two plays after Maryland tied the score.

With a career day, Dotson now owns the Penn State record for most receiving yards in a single game. He blew past the previous record of 216 yards set by Deon Butler back in the 2006 season.

Maryland’s secondary seemed to lose Dotson at times, something a team absolutely cannot do with a player of Dotson’s caliber. In the last two games against Maryland and Ohio State, Dotson has 22 receptions for 369 yards and the three scores.

While the year has not gone as well as Penn State hoped it would, Dotson has certainly done himself a favor with his draft stock. He has played himself into the first-round conversation of next year’s NFL draft.

Dotson carried Penn State on his back against Maryland. That is what great players do. He deserves a game ball and may find himself with real award recognition by season’s end. With three games left, he will certainly be adding to his already great season.
