3. Michigan State (8-1)

Week 10 result: Lost to Purdue 40-29

It sure feels like this loss was inevitable for Michigan State. They have had a few close calls this season but had managed to still be undefeated in Week 10. They finally let one slip to Purdue in a game where they were mostly dominated the entire time.

Purdue was getting whatever they wanted on offense and could not be stopped. You’re not going to win many games if you give up 536 passing yards which is exactly what Michigan State did. That’s not a recipe for success no matter who you play.

The Spartans will definitely fall in these rankings and may have blown their College Football Playoff hopes. The good news is that Kenneth Walker III still has his Heisman hopes alive and well. He certainly was not the reason they lost this game as he still went for 136 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Next game: vs. Maryland
My prediction: Win 41-24
