9. Wake Forest (8-1)

Week 10 result: Lost to North Carolina 58-55

The only other undefeated team to go down this weekend was Wake Forest. It also felt like this loss was inevitable as they have had so many close calls and have struggled defensively all season.

The defense finally did prove to be their downfall as they allowed 58 points. It’s hard to imagine losing when you score 55 points yourself. But that is truly how bad this defense was against Sam Howell on Saturday. The Demon Deacons were up 14 going into the final quarter and just totally crumbled down the stretch giving up 24 points in the fourth.

They could not stop Ty Chandler on the ground who had over 200 yards and four touchdowns. Wake Forest still has a chance to win the ACC but they’ll need to improve defensively if they want to do so. Their offense is unreal and is literally big play central. But if they can’t get stops, they will most likely lose a few more games this season.

Next game: vs. North Carolina State
My prediction: Win 38-35
