Virginia Tech’s 17-3 loss to Boston College could be the last straw for head coach Justin Fuente in Blacksburg. Virginia Tech could muster just three points in the loss. This game was the third the Boston College defense held the Hokies to ten points or less.

Virginia Tech has scored just 89 points in conference play this season. It is looking terrible that Fuente let Hendon Hooker transfer to Tennessee in favor of Braxton Burmeister. The defense has not looked much better than the offense, either.

Boston College’s 17-3 win over Virginia Tech was their first conference victory of the season. Quarterback Phil Jurkovec returned in this game after Head coach Jeff Hafley thought that the Notre Dame transfer would be lost for the season.

Jurkovec’s presence gave the Eagles a spark despite throwing for just 112 yards in the game. Boston College needs just one win to make a bowl game despite winning just one conference game this season. With Jurkovec back, Boston College could go on a run.

The Louisville Cardinals were victims of another close loss. The Cardinals’ six-point loss was their third one-possession loss of the season. Malik Cunningham had another outstanding performance with 308 total yards and two rushing touchdowns.

Unfortunately for Louisville, the offense stalled in the fourth quarter, and the defense could not hold on to a touchdown lead, allowing 13 points in the fourth quarter to Clemson. The Cardinals need to win two of their last three games to go bowling this season.
