College Football 2021: Top 3 under-the-radar games to watch in Week 11

1. Nevada at (22) San Diego State

A pivotal game in the Mountain West for all the night owls on Saturday. Nevada is 7-2 and San Diego State 8-1 but both are 4-1 in the conference’s West division. The Wolf Pack have won three straight in the series.

This is a game of two different offensive styles. Nevada relies heavily on their passing game, led by quarterback Carson Strong who directs the third best passing team in the country. San Diego State has one of the worst passing offenses in the country but their rushing attack averages 193 yards a game, ranking 37th in the country. Nevada’s rushing attack is second worst in the FBS.

The edge in this one may go to the Aztec defense. They rank 10th in the nation in points allowed, only giving up 16.7 per game. Their secondary is stout, led by cornerback Tayler Hawkins, and has the talent to slow down Strong enough to give the Aztecs a chance.

In what could be a low scoring game, the Aztecs also have a weapon in kicker/punter Matt Araiza. He is booming punts, averaging nearly 52 yards per kick and six of his punts on the season have traveled 70 plus yards. In a game of field position, this is a huge advantage.

These two teams look to be the best of the Mountain West this season, apologies to Utah State. The victor Saturday night will gain a huge edge in the West division and may just be crowned conference champion in a few weeks.
