Welcome to the weekly Group of Five New Year’s Six Watch. Did Cincinnati deserve to be in the top four in the latest CFP rankings?

Welcome back to the Watch. This week was the fall of a couple of teams. Fresno State was dominated by a healthy Boise State squad in the valley 40-14. The Broncos smothered what a potent Fresno State offense was.

The SMU Mustangs also fell this weekend. The Mustangs fell into the trap of one loss turning into two losses after SMU lost to Memphis after their loss to Houston. For both, their Watch has ended.

However, this is about the Cincinnati Bearcats and their outside chance at making the college football playoff. Currently, the Bearcats sit at fifth in the College Football Playoff standings. A lot of things above Cincinnati are going to shake out before the end of the season.

There is a possibility that the Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs are going to play each other. If Georgia wins, Alabama is eliminated. Ohio State and Michigan State play one another under the same circumstances.

Cincinnati should be worried about Oklahoma running the table and winning the Big 12. There is no scenario where a Group of Five undefeated conference champion trumps a Power Five undefeated conference champion.

Here is the New Year’s Six Watch for Week 11.
