This season, the young men from Lafayette, Louisiana, are the class of the Sun Belt this season. Conference play has been as good as last season, but without the publicity they had last season. That is likely because the Cajuns could not pull off the upset against Texas like they did Iowa State.

That does not diminish the season the Cajuns are having so far this season. Louisiana is on a collision course with the Appalachian State Mountaineers in the conference title game if they can survive and advance.

It is about time the Playoff committee put some respect on the Roadrunners name. UTSA might not make the New Year’s Six, but they have come from being an FCS school ten years ago to being the power of Conference USA.

There are few quarterback/running back duos better than Frank Harris and Sincere McCormick. The Cincinnati Bearcats should take note of how to dominate a conference. The Roadrunners have run through Conference USA save a shootout against Western Kentucky.

The Aztecs are just chugging along in the Mountain West. Head coach Brady Hoke has San Diego State playing the type of ball that has made them successful for years. The Aztecs don’t have a flashy high-powered offense; they want to run the ball and put the boa constrictor on their opponents.

Defensively, it isn’t easy to run the football or sustain drives against the Aztecs. San Diego State did themselves no favors losing to Fresno State two weeks ago, especially since the Bulldogs went and got blown out by Boise State last week.
