The end to Baylor’s win against Oklahoma football was every bit as interesting as the game. Bears’ quarterback Gerry Bohannon kneeled to end the game when Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley demanded his defense come back on the field with one second left.

The referees should have run off that last second. Oklahoma did not have the football, and even if they did, it would have had no bearing on the game since Baylor was already up by ten points. Baylor head coach Dave Arranda decided to kick a field goal to win the game 27-14.

Dave Aranda said he wanted the field goal for tie-breaker purposes.

What is most baffling about this performance is Riley and the Sooners had two weeks to prepare for Baylor’s defense and scored only seven points, mustering 260 total yards on the day. The Sooners were unable to get anything going offensively.

Defensively, Baylor beat Oklahoma in the trenches. The Bears ran for 296 yards at 6.3 yards per rush. The Sooners did not tackle very well either.

The Bears were more physical and executed better in a game the Sooners needed to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Here are three takeaways from today’s game.
