CFP Rankings Projections, Week 12: Did Ohio State do enough to jump Oregon?
Texas A&M is going to assume Ole Miss’ old spot at No. 15 after losing to the Rebels in Oxford 29-19. Zach Calzada had a tough game and his lack of elite passing prowess finally caught up to the Aggies as their magical run is now over. They can no longer be the first two-loss team to make the playoff.
BYU had the week off and I see the Cougars staying put at No. 14. As long as Jaren Hall and Tyler Allgeier continue to play well after the bye, I see the Cougars remaining in the hunt for a New Year’s Six bowl.
Did Matt Corral’s Heisman campaign take a hit in Ole Miss’ win over Texas A&M? I don’t think it did despite his average showing, but I don’t think he helped it as much as he could have. He finished with 247 yards and a touchdown on just 24-of-37 completions, but Jerrion Ealy and that run game carried the Rebels to a huge win over No. 15 Texas A&M.
Lincoln Riley has some major questions to answer after a Week 11 meltdown in Waco. The Sooners looked awful on offense and Caleb Williams’ short-lived Heisman campaign was ended with a two-interception performance against Baylor. The playoff committee already didn’t value Oklahoma as a 9-0 team, so just imagine how they’ll feel after the Sooners’ first loss. Four spots seems right.
I was very tempted to predict Baylor as a top-10 team this week and I think Dave Aranda and the Bears are deserving, but I see Wake Forest just barely getting the nod. However, this team is going to be the first outside of the top 10 after upsetting No. 8 Oklahoma and I also see the Bears jumping Oklahoma in the CFP rankings for Week 12. Aranda for national coach of the year?
