CFP Rankings Projections, Week 12: Did Ohio State do enough to jump Oregon?
There were murmurs of a potential upset on Saturday night as Notre Dame would visit Charlottesville to face a tough 6-3 Virginia team.
Those were squashed quickly.
Notre Dame scored first and then was up 21-0 by halftime before cruising to a 28-3 blowout win over the Cavaliers on the road. Notre Dame did dodge a bullet, however, as Brennan Armstrong missed the game due to an injury and he would have undoubtedly put more pressure on the Irish defense.
The Irish will probably move up a spot thanks to a loss by Oklahoma to Baylor on the road and they’ll be firmly in the playoff race with just two weeks left.
The only issue here for Notre Dame is the fact that the Irish don’t have a conference title game to help them out. But championship games would actually help the Irish if any heavy underdogs win.
Moving up four spots in the final three weeks before the final playoff rankings is not impossible but the Irish are going to need a ton of help to make their third playoff in four years.
