CFP Rankings Projections, Week 12: Did Ohio State do enough to jump Oregon?
I’m a big believer that the playoff committee is looking for reasons to not include Cincinnati in its top four and they probably didn’t come away very impressed with the Bearcats after a 45-28 win over 2-7 South Florida in Week 11.
The Bearcats led 24-7 at halftime and then tied South Florida 21-21 in the second half which wasn’t exactly the greatest finish to the game. They were up just 31-21 at one point and it looked like it was going to be another one of those sweat-it-out wins for Luke Fickell’s team but they pulled away in the fourth.
Desmond Ridder finally had a big game, throwing for over 300 yards and a couple of touchdowns on 31-of-39 completions. But was this enough of a “blowout” to impress the committee and keep the Bearcats at No. 5 over Michigan after the Wolverines beat an AP ranked Penn State team? I just don’t think so.
Cincinnati fans might not be very happy on Tuesday night when the new rankings come out and the hate can be directed toward the committee — and Jim Harbaugh.
