Here are three takeaways from #1 Georgia Football’s road blowout against Tennessee.

The Georgia Bulldogs spoiled the return of Volunteer legends Peyton Manning and Candice “Ace” Parker to Knoxville for homecoming. The Georiga Bulldogs heard all week about not playing a team with a high-powered offense and mobile quarterback.

Message received.

The Bulldogs held the Volunteers to 387 points and 10 points when the game mattered on their way to a 41-17 route on the road. The Vols got off to a fast start, scoring the first touchdown of the game. Georgia responded with an early touchdown of their own.

The Volunteers kicked a field goal after each team traded punts. Tennessee would not score again until the game was out of hand. The Bulldogs, however, would score 34 unanswered points. It was the running game that led the way for the Bulldogs.

James Cook and Zamir White combined for 159 of Georgia’s 274 rushing yards. Tennessee did not play poorly; they were overmatched. Tennessee’s first quarter was their best punch, and they could only muster 10 points. Georgia put the clamps on Tennessee’s offense and pounded the Vols’ defense.

The Bulldogs move to 10-0 for the first time since 1984, and the Volunteers fall to 5-5, looking for one more win to be bowl eligible.
