The Bulldogs’ defense gets a lot of flowers these days, and rightfully so. There has not been a defense this dominant in a long time. The Bulldogs allow six points per game. That is not a typo, folks; in this age of the offense, the Dawgs have allowed less than a touchdown per game this season.

Georiga football has two shutouts and has allowed fewer than 10 points four times. Tennessee’s 17 points are the most points the Volunteers have allowed this season. This defense is an all-time unit.

However, the offense is pretty good as well. Offensive coordinator Todd Monken has found a way to meld an explosive, chunk offense with Kirby Smart’s boa constrictor team philosophy.

J.T. Daniels was supposed to be the starter, but persistent issues with his knee have kept him out of the lineup. “The Mailman” Stetson Bennett IV has been more than a game manager. Bennett has thrown 14 touchdowns and averages 12.6 yards per pass attempt.

Tonight was more of the same. The Bulldogs’ 40 points this afternoon was the fifth time they’ve scored at least 40 in a game this season. A dominant defense and explosive offense are elements of a special season.
