CFP Rankings, Top 10: Week 11 recap, previewing Week 12
By Mitch Kaiser
2. Alabama (9-1)
Week 11 result: Defeated New Mexico State 59-3
After going down 3-0 early, Alabama rattled off the next 59 points against New Mexico State. I’m sure Nick Saban was freaking out on his team when they were losing so he had to light a fire under their belly. Alabama even covered a 50-point spread in this game which I expected they would.
This was a much-needed tune-up game for the Crimson Tide who struggled to move the ball a week ago against LSU. They certainly didn’t struggle to move the ball at all this week. Bryce Young was nearly perfect this game and had more touchdown passes than incompletions.
More importantly, Alabama was able to get the ground game going which was ineffective a week ago. They had 247 rushing yards averaging 6.0 yards a carry in this one.
This was also the best that this Tide defense has played all season.
Regardless of these gaudy numbers, this was only against New Mexico State and should not mean too much. But it still could be a nice confidence boost.
Next game: vs. Arkansas
Prediction: Win 39-20
