College Gameday is headed to the biggest game of Week 12 in the college football season but the destination was still the wrong choice.

If you are looking at it in a vacuum, it would seem like Ohio State and Michigan State was a fairly easy decision for the College Gameday crew.

It’s a game with clear implications in the Big Ten title race as well as the hunt for the College Football Playoff. Both the Spartans and Buckeyes should be in the top seven this week and the two programs are each sitting at 9-1.

It’s this week’s marquee matchup. But, the University of Montana and the entire state really,  as well as celebrities such as Big and Rich, Pearl Jam, Michael Keaton, Jeff Garcia, and many others were pushing for College Gameday to feature the annual Brawl of the Wild between Montana and Montana State — two FCS powers ranked in the top 10.

Obviously, some college football fans won’t be too worried about the matchup, although FCS fans know those programs very well but it would have made for a unique atmosphere which isn’t what we’ll get on Saturday.

In fact, by next weekend, fans are going to be sick and tired of the Big Ten and teams like Ohio State, Michigan State, and Michigan.

The Spartans were on College Gameday two weeks ago. And next week, unless there are some surprises, there is a strong bet that College Gameday will be in Ann Arbor featuring the Michigan-Ohio State game.

So Ohio State, Michigan, and MSU will all be featured twice within a few weeks time. Cool. Not like we’ve never seen College Gameday in Columbus.

The trip to Montana would have been cool and it had endorsements from Bear, Desmond Howard, and David Pollack. They all gave shout-outs to the awesome campaign Montana ran to attract College Gameday, but captain Buckeye, Kirk Herbstreit probably stopped in its tracks.

It’s not like the show wouldn’t have spent a ton of time covering the game and you can bet if Fox was broadcasting MSU-OSU — not ABC — Montana might have stood a chance.

Instead, we’ll see something we’ve seen a million times before so kudos to College Gameday for doing the most boring thing possible.

SEC Nation

SEC Nation was in the same location as College Gameday last week for the Texas A&M vs Ole Miss game and this week, the show will feature Alabama and Arkansas. It will be a top-25 battle and Alabama can clinch the SEC West with a win.

Fox Big Noon Kickoff

Big Noon Kickoff will be back in Norman. The Fox game at Noon EST is Oklahoma and Iowa State in what is a huge game for Oklahoma. Another loss could put the Sooners Big 12 title game hopes in jeopardy and Iowa State needs a win to stay alive.

The loss to Texas Tech stung really bad. But if the Cyclones win out, they still have a narrow path that includes getting plenty of help from others.

But first, a win over Oklahoma is required or Iowa State is done.
