Heisman Trophy Contender No. 2: Kenneth Walker III, RB, Michigan State

Walker has been nothing short of spectacular for Michigan State this season. In 10 games, he has rushed for 100 yards or more seven times and reached 200 on the ground twice, as well as gaining over 200 total yards and scoring five touchdowns against Michigan.

That vaulted him to the top of the Heisman Trophy conversation. However, a loss to Purdue the next week knocked a little luster off his campaign despite getting over 100 in the loss to the Boilermakers.

Walker and the Spartans bounced back with a big win against Maryland, but truth be told, his Heisman Trophy campaign was always going to come down to the Ohio State game.

The Michigan game put Walker in a position to win the award and he can take a huge step if he can lead his team to a win Saturday in Columbus.

Michigan State is a big underdog and Walker will need a superhuman effort but he pulled it off against Michigan, so who knows?

If MSU does win and the Spartans advance to the Big Ten title game, Walker could have a real shot at 2,000 yards. He needs 527 right now. If he gets that while carrying Michigan State to a Big Ten title and a playoff berth, he should win the Heisman, at least in all likelihood.
