Alabama Football: 3 takeaways from close win over Arkansas
2. Arkansas’ fight never wavered, but unable to capitalize in key spots
This has been nothing short of a fantastic season for Sam Pittman and the Razorbacks. They have stormed their way back into national consideration while putting on some classic games.
This game never once got out of reach due to great effort by the Razorbacks. But, what limited Arkansas’ ability to overtake the Crimson Tide was their inability to capitalize on Alabama’s mistakes.
Alabama football had both a missed field goal and a turnover in the second half. After both of these mistakes, Arkansas went 3-and-out on both occasions. Everybody knows how tough it is to win in Tuscaloosa, but it only becomes that much tougher when you fail to capitalize on Alabama’s (limited) mistakes.
On the other side, Arkansas turned the ball over just once today. This is a credit to KJ Jefferson, who has just three interceptions on the season. Jefferson was able to play his brand of football and had a great game against Bama.
Of course, it would be an outrage to not give credit to Treylon Burks. Burks battled through a foot injury to put up 179 yards on eight receptions while adding two touchdowns.
Burks has the combination of size and athleticism that will make him an interesting prospect when he decides to turn pro.
