Mississippi State was one of a handful of ranked SEC teams that faced FCS foes in Week 12 to break up that conference schedule. The Bulldogs followed up an impressive comeback win over Auburn with a blowout 55-10 win over Tennessee State to improve to 7-4. It’s weird to see a four-loss team in the rankings, but the committee likes Mike Leach’s team.

Dana Holgorsen and Houston continue to improve this season, improving to 10-1 with Clayton Tune playing well at quarterback. Who could have seen this coming just two years after the Cougars lost D’Eriq King to a transfer? Holgorsen has done a fantastic job at Houston, adding a 31-13 win over Memphis to his resume.

Beat UAB 34-31. 23. player. 2408. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Last Week: 22. UTSA Roadrunners

UTSA had its hands full on Saturday afternoon against UAB but Frank Harris had a big game through the air, throwing for 323 yards and three touchdowns to help the Roadrunners improve to a shocking 11-0 on the season. This should be enough to remain in the Top 25.

So this is an interesting team in the Top 25 because I didn’t think we’d see Clemson back in it this season, but a 21-point win over a top-10 team has to be good enough to earn some love from the playoff committee. Clemson has been objectively bad this season despite an 8-3 record, but the Tigers looked like the top-10 team on Saturday. This spot could easily go to Louisiana or Clemson could even move up from No. 22.

Brady Hoke’s team continues to win, even if it’s not in the most impressive fashion. The Aztecs beat a really bad UNLV team by just eight points in Week 12 and for that reason, I see them dropping a couple of spots. They will have to make way for a team like Utah and I just don’t think their win over UNLV was more impressive than NC State’s victory against Syracuse.
