CFP Rankings Projections, Week 13: Ohio State, Alabama fighting for No. 2
Wake Forest is going to be one of two teams to drop out of the top 10 this week and the Demon Deacons just looked like they weren’t ready for the moment against Clemson on Saturday. They did what not many teams have done this season: surrender a ton of points to the Tigers. Still a successful season for Wake, but no playoff run.
How far will Michigan State drop after losing to Ohio State by a million points? Probably around the 12-15 range. Is this loss bad? Yes, but the Spartans were massive underdogs and the committee isn’t going to punish them for their second loss of the season on the road against a top-five team with three All-American receivers and a Heisman-caliber quarterback too much. Still, a lot to work on.
Wisconsin has been scorching-hot over the past month. Really ever since losing to Michigan, the Badgers have been on fire, winning seven straight games and they just beat the best three-loss team in the country (Nebraska) in Madison on Saturday. The defense wasn’t great against Nebraska but it held on to win and Braelon Allen had a monster game in the process.
I’ve been so impressed with BYU this season because Kalani Sitake has made due with a new quarterback and he’s dealt with some injuries and yet the Cougars are still 9-2 after a blowout win at Georgia Southern. Jaren Hall had another big game and so did Tyler Allgeier as the Cougars ran away with a win in the second half, 34-13.
Oklahoma hasn’t been the most impressive Big 12 team this season and the Sooners have actually been somewhat disappointing and nearly had another upset loss on Saturday against Iowa State. The Sooners had a 21-7 lead but let the Cyclones get back into it before shutting the door on fourth down in their own territory. The Sooners will move up a little bit.
