Quarterback Jordan Travis threw for 251 yards and three touchdowns as Florida State football got out to an early lead and held on for the 26-23 win on the road at Chestnut Hill against the Boston College Eagles.

Coming into the season, Travis was not the clear starter. The story in Tallahassee was McKinzie Milton’s comeback from a horrific leg injury. The Florida State offensive staff ensured everyone knew that Jordan Travis had made significant strides as a passer and should not be forgotten.

After some rotation between Travis and Milton, Travis wrestled the job away. Today proved why sticking with Travis was the right choice. The Louisville transfer had his most productive passing day of the season when the Seminoles needed it most.

Travis had a couple of critical scrambles and kept plays alive with his legs today as the Seminoles are one game away from going to a bowl. Here are three more takeaways from today’s game.

3. Solid win for the ‘Noles

Florida State is far from a perfect team. Today’s game is indicative of Florida State’s season. The Seminoles got out to a 19-3 lead in the first half. Travis had a solid first half, and the defense stymied the Boston College offense. Boston College quarterback Phil Jurkovec could not get going in the first half.

Despite the two-score lead, Florida State did miss some opportunities in the first half. Florida State extended their lead to 26-3 midway in the first half. Then the offense went utterly silent the rest of the game while the defense gave up some big plays to Jurkovec and receiver Zay Flowers.

However, the Seminoles made some defensive plays late, including forcing an interception late in the game. Despite the up and down performance by the Seminoles, it was a solid performance. The ‘Noles are far from perfect, but they play hard for one another and head coach Mike Norvell.
