CFP Rankings 2021, Top 10: Week 12 recap, previewing week 13
By Mitch Kaiser
3. Alabama (10-1)
Week 12 result: Defeated Arkansas 42-35
The score doesn’t really reflect how this game played out for Alabama. All due respect to Arkansas who played a very good offensive game themselves, but they never could stop the Tide on defense. They made this game somewhat close towards the end but the result was never in doubt.
The Crimson Tide offense was rolling once again putting up 671 total yards. Bryce Young made his Heisman statement throwing for 559 yards which broke the single-game record for any Alabama quarterback. That is an elite list to be at the top of and Bryce Young would definitely have my vote for Heisman if the season ended today.
He couldn’t have done it without the help of his two top receivers, though. Jameson Williams and John Metchie III both nearly went for 200 receiving yards and a couple of touchdowns in this one.
I’m sure Nick Saban is still not happy about his defense giving up 35 points and they’ll need to correct that. They likely won’t be able to allow 35 points to Georgia in a few weeks and still come away with a win.
Next game: vs. Auburn
My prediction: Win 40-17
