The Mississippi State football team, fresh off a huge come-from-behind win against Auburn, looks to get their first Egg Bowl win in the Mike Leach era.

If you haven’t been paying attention to the Bulldogs this year, you’ve been missing out on great football. The team has three wins against teams ranked in the Top 25: Texas A&M, Kentucky, and Auburn.

They’re hoping to make it a fourth this Thanksgiving with a win over No. 12 Ole Miss at home in Starkville.

Mississippi State will have an uphill battle as Ole Miss controls the all-time series between these two teams 63-46-6, according to Winsipedia.

We’re taking a look at three reasons why Mississippi State has what it takes to upset Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss.

1. Mississippi State is red-hot

The Bulldogs (7-4) have had an impressive second-half of the season, being one two-point conversion away from being 5-0 in their last five games.

Heck, if you look at their entire body of work, Mississippi State was dangerously close to being 10-1 right now. The team only has one bad loss this season, to Alabama — a 40-point loss.

They lost to Memphis early in the season by just two points, they lost to LSU by three and Arkansas by three. You don’t have to be a math expert to realize that they lost three games by a combined eight points.

This is a really good Bulldogs team that makes their opponents pay for underestimating them.
