After a crazy rivalry weekend, the final AP Poll was released before the college football playoff arrived. Who are the winners and losers?

Rivalry weekend is always the one the most college football fans look forward to the most. The tradition and the importance of these games cannot be understated and they are always circled by fans, even in losing seasons. This year’s rivalry weekend did not disappoint.

Jim Harbaugh guided Michigan to their first victory against Ohio State since 2011 and it is the biggest win in recent memory for the program. The Wolverines are now one win away from the college football playoff, something that was unthinkable at the start of the season.

Mike Gundy led Oklahoma State to a big win over Oklahoma and the Cowboys are in a good position to make a push for the playoffs themselves. This was a hard-fought win and a sweet one for Gundy, given his struggles against the Sooners. Whether or not Alabama beats Georgia in the SEC championship game, if the Cowboys beat Baylor, they might be heading to the playoff.

Speaking of Alabama, they have to feel fortunate to still be 11-1 and have playoff hopes. The Crimson Tide have gotten by with some lackluster performances against Auburn, LSU, and others this season, but they are going to have to play much better if they want to have a shot against Georgia.

Ohio State and Oklahoma were two teams that saw their playoff hopes go up in smoke Saturday with losses. Cincinnati keeps winning and could be one win away, depending on what happens in the other championship games. Notre Dame might not have a clear path to the playoff, but with enough chaos, the Fighting Irish could sneak in.

Here are the winners and losers from this week’s AP Poll Release.
