College Football Playoff Rankings 2021: Projected Top 25, Week 14
Going on the road for the annual Iron Bowl, Alabama just needed a one-point win to beat Auburn. Anything can happen in a rivalry game and that was clear when Auburn held a 10-0 lead in the second half, but the Crimson Tide held came back, sent the game to overtime, and won in four extra frames.
Alabama might not be as good this year as it usually is, but if the Tide beat Georgia in the SEC title game next week, we might be looking at them as the No. 1 overall see. Georgia is likely in the field no matter what, but if the Tide win, they could steal that No. 1 spot.
But a week after losing that No. 2 spot to Ohio State, I see the Crimson Tide climbing back up to the second spot despite not looking great.
Did Bryce Young’s Heisman campaign end? He did have over 300 yards and two touchdowns, but he completed fewer than 50 percent of his passes. He may have taken a hit in the Heisman race, but he should still be in New York and maybe even have the best odds.
Nick Saban’s rant still rings true because Alabama won and it didn’t feel like a typical Crimson Tide victory, but you can’t complain about the margin when you’re 11-1 and headed to the SEC title game.
I could see Michigan at No. 2, but I think the committee keeps Alabama here.
