In one of the most surprising moves in college football history, Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley leaves Norman for Los Angeles to coach USC football.

In the postgame press conference after Oklahoma’s 37-33 loss to Oklahoma State, Sooners’ head coach Lincoln Riley stopped a reporter mid-sentence to let him and the college football world know that he was not taking the head coaching position at LSU.

Riley did not take the job at LSU; he took the job at USC.

In the most shocking move in recent college football history, Riley, 38, leaves Oklahoma for USC after five seasons in Norman. Riley said this in a statement released by the university:

“Leaving OU was probably the most difficult decision of my life,” Riley said in a statement released by Oklahoma. “OU is one of the best college football programs in the country, and it has been forever. … This was a personal decision solely based on my willingness to go take on a new challenge, and I felt like it was the right opportunity for me and my family to do that.”

Oklahoma was 55-10 under Riley, winning four Big 12 titles and made the College Football Playoff three times.
