NCAAF: Ranking the 25 worst games of past Heisman trophy winners
Ranking the 25 worst games of past Heisman trophy winners: 19. Robert Griffin III
- 2011 College stats: 4,293 rushing yards, 37 touchdowns, 6 interceptions
- Worst game: 425 passing yards, 1 touchdown, 2 interceptions
Mostly because his time in the NFL was forgettable due to injury, many have shoved aside the great college career of Robert Griffin III. The two are simply not the same.
At Baylor, people either turned on their television or paid their hard-earned money to watch RG3 go to work. He was accurate with the ball and had incredible track speed. In 2011, he had it all figured out. With 4,293 passing yards, 37 touchdowns, and six interceptions – it was a nightmare stopping him.
Remember that track speed we were talking about? RG3 cooked defenders with 699 yards that season. Though this is supposed to be a list detailing the worst games of Heisman winners, there weren’t many instances in which RG3 played badly. But, he did play somewhat under his normal standard during a midseason loss against Oklahoma State.
RG3 finished the game with 425 passing yards, so there are no complaints there. But he threw only one touchdown against two interceptions. Also, Oklahoma State gave the blueprint to other schools in terms of how to stop RG3 on the ground as they held him to just 27 yards on 16 attempts.
