Advantages
Much like Washington State, Texas Tech is a place where you can win and have success. The Red Raiders have an athletic director in Kirby Hocutt that wants a successful football team. Texas Tech fills their stadium most Saturdays with a fanbase that loves their Red Raiders.
The Red Raiders did not waste time hiring a new head coach. Hocutt announced Baylor associate head coach Joey McGuire would be the next Texas Tech head coach on Nov. 10. McGuire has lots of connections in Texas from his time as a high school coach.
McGuire inherits a state-of-the-art football facility that should be completed by 2023. This facility will connect with the indoor practice facility that was completed in 2017.

Disadvantages
Lubbock is not Dallas, Houston, or even College Station. Texas is known for its abundance of high school talent; Lubbock is in the region of Texas with the least amount of high school talent. It is not easy to get kids to Lubbock, and the Red Raiders have had success with special prep offenses.
Mike Leach won in Lubbock with the Air Raid and Spike Dykes had success with a variation of the option offense. The biggest disadvantage for Texas Tech is they do not have the resources Texas and Texas A&M have.
