Here’s why Kirby Smart and Georgia football will secure their first SEC title since 2017 when they take on the Alabama Crimson Tide.

The Georgia Football team is preparing to take on SEC West foe Alabama in a game that will decide the 2021 conference champion.

Alabama has won the previous six meetings against Georgia. The last time the Bulldogs defeated the Tide was all the way back in September of 2007 — Nick Saban’s first year as head coach of Alabama.

While the Tide do have firm control of the all-time series record against Georgia (41-25-4), this appears to be the best team we’ve seen from Athens in a very long time. The stars seem to be aligning for Georgia to take the reigns and win their first SEC title since 2017 and their fourth overall.

Here are three reasons why the Georgia Bulldogs are going to win the 2021 SEC Championship game.

1. Georgia is catching Alabama at their most vulnerable position in years

The Alabama Crimson Tide have only lost one game this season, but it feels like they’ve lost more than that because of a few games in which they escaped by single digits.

We all remember Alabama losing to an unranked Texas A&M team in the middle of the season.

But even more can be said about them escaping with a win against the Arkansas Razorbacks by seven points at home, barely beating a bad Florida team by just two points on the road, and needing four overtimes to put away rival Auburn.

This Alabama team has generally not done well on the road this season and they’ll be on the road this week in the SEC title game against Georgia.

The Tide had four true road games this season and they are pretty eye-opening: the two-point win at Florida, a three-point loss at A&M, a 40-point win at Mississippi State, and a two-point win at Auburn.

Georgia is playing a de-facto home game, just 70 miles from campus at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
