3. Clayton Tune has been just as good as Desmond Ridder

Houston’s Clayton Tune gets an infinitesimal amount of the attention that Cincinnati quarterback Desmond Ridder gets on a national level, despite having nearly identical stats.

  • Clayton Tune in 2021: 244-for-355 passing, 3,013 yards, 26 TDs, 8 INTs,
  • Desmond Ridder in 2021: 223-for-338, 3,000 yards, 27 TDs, 8 INTs

And, if you take away Houston’s outlier game that they lost in the season opener against Texas Tech, Tune would have just four interceptions on the season.

Expect the junior quarterback from Carrollton, Texas to introduce himself to the mainstream college football fan and members of the media against Cincinnati in a big way.

In the past five games, Tune is throwing an average of 317 yards per game, 2.8 touchdowns, and 0.4 interceptions — he’s been incredibly efficient.

Tune is going to use that momentum to have one of the best games of his career on the biggest stage of his career.

Houston will face Cincinnati for the AAC Championship Dec. 4 at 4 p.m. ET on ABC.
