2. Gator Bowl (vs. Penn State)

Sports Illustrated is currently projecting the Vols to head to the Gator bowl to compete against Penn State from the Big Ten.

Tennessee has some history with the Nittany Lions, as they are 2-3 all-time against one of the most storied teams in all of college football.

A match-up against Penn State would be really interesting. They have a great defense, allowing just 16.8 points per game, the seventh-fewest in the nation. While, as we all know, the Vols are one of the highest scoring teams in all of college football, averaging 38.8 points per game.

This would be a game that could answer the age-old question of who would prevail in a matchup of a great defense versus a stellar offense?

Perhaps we could find out if this bowl game projection comes to fruition. If it does, it would be Tennessee’s seventh overall appearance at the Gator bowl.
